Please come and join a bunch of delinquent artists as we play at a swish jazz club this Wednesday. I believe we’ll all be playing stripped-down folk sets and it’s bound to beautiful and lovely. I’m not sure when you’ll get a chance to see something like this again in San Francisco:
Family Folk Opry
Wed Jan 27, 9pm
@ Yoshi’s Lounge (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco)
just $5
LITTLE WINGS
THE BLANK TAPES
MARK MATOS
KACEY JOHANSING
MOOMAW

Bursting through space, time and enchanted forests with glittering wonderment these magnificent beasts billow in like the wind itself imparting magic upon those whose minds allow belief. Come hither. Ride the unicorn love this Friday at a short film screening followed by a live unicorn-based performance by Moomaw. The event is happening in an underground bat cave in Hayes Valley and you are required to bring Champagne or pie.
The Unicorn Girl (short film by Amelia Mulkey)
540 Laguna (at Hayes)
Friday January 22nd
9:00 - doors open
10:00 - doors close for film
10:30 - The Unicorn Girl is shown
11:00 - Moomaw plays music about unicorns
It will be nothing less than magical. Just remember to bring Champagne and pie! They are key!
And if unicorns aren’t your thing, maybe pirates and cowboys are:

Next week I will be part of a really great show at Yoshi’s in San Francisco. Please mark your calendars for this memorable date in which a bunch of hippies take over a jazz club:

A preview of the upcoming Moomaw record, “Pirate of This Bottled Ship”, is now available for free download as it appears on an Ondarock compilation entitled “OndaDrops Vol.1: Do you know the way to blue?”. Please take a moment to download the whole compilation, as it is lovely and I’m very proud to be a part of it. There are some wonderful words written in Italian as well. I’ve been told what they mean and hope that hope that the lovely Italian-speaking bird who whispered them into my ear before she flew away wasn’t coating them with any of her sugar. Download the song or the whole album here:
Things that spin in the wind shall also say I am playing an out of town show this weekend with Erinn Williams out in Old Hangtown:

I am to play an epically wild psychedelic dance party extravaganza set this Friday, Jan 8 at Hotel Utah in San Francisco. It will be my first show of the year it’s special because I haven’t played in the San Fran area for awhile, so in turn, I will do it well. I am happy to be opening the show (ON FIRST @ 9pm SHARP) before 3 other lovely bands including Beatbeat Whisper, Mia Riddle (NYC) and Ari Vais.

Last Friday a lovely bunch of Bay Area artists and friends crammed themselves into every square inch of Tory’s house in Mission/Potrero with an unlikely amount of drinks and treats, even for that crowd, and rowdily sang along to eachother’s songs next to a plastic tree and decorations aplenty.
Below is a Youtube playlist (also found on Youtube here: Outta Sight Holiday) with 13 holiday songs, some original and some traditional, from 13 stellar artists. You should be able to press play and pretend you’re there, working towards the gift of a holiday headache, as we all felt the next day!
Let’s face it, these songs go well with alcohol. You can navigate through the songs with this Youtube widget.
If you want even more holiday music, you can always go to and download last year’s holiday show:
